This little road trip my sister and I took during
the first week of July 1997 started out so simple.
We had planned for several weeks to go to New
Braunfels for the 4th of July weekend and tube
down the Guadalupe river. However, at the last
minute, we found out the river had flooded, and
hence tubing was closed. Not ready to give up
and stay at home, we decided to look elsewhere
for other places to go tubing. We finally decided
on the Niobrara river in northern Nebraska,
and while we were at it, we'd also go up to South
Dakota and see Mt. Rushmore. Well, we did
the tubing (although I don't have any pictures
from that part of the trip). And on the day we
went to South Dakota, we were in kind of an adventurous
mood, so we decided since we were so close to
both states, that we'd dip through a bit of Montana
and Wyoming just to say
we'd been there. The result is this collection
of mostly "roadside" snapshots (hey,
where I come from, deer don't normally just roam
the side of the road like that! :) ).
